The Future of GuardianForge

By Brian

Hey Guardians — Brian here.

If you've been following the news around Destiny 2, you know Bungie has confirmed there won't be any more content updates for the game. That's a bittersweet moment for a lot of us. Destiny has been a huge part of my life for years, and GuardianForge exists because of the community that kept showing up to share builds, chase loot, and help each other get ready for the next activity.

So I want to be clear about one thing up front: GuardianForge isn't going anywhere.

Still here for the long haul

As long as Destiny 2's servers are online and Bungie's API keeps serving data, I'll keep working on Forge. The game may be winding down from a content perspective, but there's still a massive library of gear to chase, builds to craft, and activities to run. GuardianForge was built for that — and it still has a role to play.

My plan is straightforward: continue making enhancements and improvements until the servers go offline. That might mean smaller, more focused updates rather than big seasonal overhauls, but the app isn't entering maintenance mode. If you're still playing, I want Forge to keep being useful.

What's on the roadmap

There are a number of features I've always wanted in GuardianForge that never quite made it to the top of the list while the game was still getting regular updates. With a clearer picture of where things stand, I'm finally prioritizing some of them:

Cosmetic tracker

Destiny's cosmetic game is enormous — shaders, ornaments, emotes, finishers, ships, sparrows, and more. I've wanted a dedicated way to track what you've collected, what you're still missing, and what's still obtainable. A cosmetic tracker is high on my list.

Better guidance on obtaining specific gear

Finding a build you love is only half the battle. Actually getting the weapons and armor in that build can be a puzzle — especially for older or sunset content. I want Forge to do a better job guiding you toward specific gear: where it drops, what activities to run, and what alternatives exist if something is no longer available.

These are the kinds of tools I wish existed when I was chasing a particular roll or trying to complete a look. I'm excited to finally build them.

I want to hear from you

If there's something specific you want out of a Destiny 2 third-party app — whether it's related to the features above or something entirely different — let me know. The best ideas often come from the community, not from my backlog.

Head to the feedback page and share what's on your mind. I read everything that comes through.

Thank you

GuardianForge wouldn't exist without the players who use it, share builds, and send suggestions over the years. Whether you've been here since the early days or just found Forge recently, thank you for being part of this.

The Tower may be quieter than it used to be, but I'll be here working on Forge for as long as the Light — and the API — holds out.

See you around the Tower,
